Her project focuses on the identification of predictive markers of the innate immune system and calcium regulation in the development of allergy through the assessment of gene expression in cord blood samples.

Andreas Böck studied statistics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich. As a research associate at Technical University of Munich (TU Munich) he worked on the development and assessment of risk models for life sciences, in particular for tree mortality and prostate cancer, and held courses in statistics and higher math. He joined the Asthma & Allergy research group in April 2014. His current projects in the group of PD Dr. Schaub comprise the analysis of complex immune responses in the development of childhood asthma for several research projects of the group including SFB-TR22 and Trilateral.

Jana Eckert studied molecular biology at the Humboldt-Universität Berlin. As a research associate she worked on the innate immune system, breast cancer genetics and food allergy, while moving from a lab-based working environment to epidemiology. She joined the Asthma and Allergy research group in November 2017. She is working on CHAMP, a BMBF funded multi-centre research project, which aims at identifying biomarkers and predictors in childhood allergy and tolerance.

Hedwig Grella started studying medicine in 2007 at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, and joined the allergy-immunology research group in summer 2011 for her MD thesis. Her project focuses on the identification of novel inflammatory markers by gene expression early in life, which are relevant in the development of atopic diseases including childhood asthma.

Dr. Hengst joined the Allergy/Immunology Research Group in spring 2017. She is pediatrician, allergologist and pediatric pulmonologist as well as anaphylaxis trainer. She was responsible for patient recruitment for translational studies for the Allergy/Immunology Research Group and is currently on maternal leave.

Elisabeth Klucker studied medicine at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich from 2004 to 2012. She joined the Allergy-Immunology research group in summer 2009 for her MD thesis. Her project focussed on the role of Th1 cells in cord blood in the context of innate immune stimulation and the development of atopic diseases and asthma. She started as medical doctor in the University Children´s Hospital in Nov 2012 in the Department of Allergy & Pulmonary in the group of PD Dr. Schaub. She is responsible for the recruitment of patients in the CLARA-Study (SFB-TR 22) and for the treatment of allergy and asthma patients.

Johanna Krusche joined the research group Asthma & Immunology of the University Children`s Hospital Dr. von Hauner under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bianca Schaub as a PhD student in April of 2017. She is working on her PhD project on the immunological mechanisms underlying asthma-protective properties of farm environments (DFG-funded). In particular, investigation on the interplay of innate and adaptive immunity as well as the pro-inflammatory NF-κB pathway with the negative regulator TNFAIP3 in the development of childhood asthma are in the focus of her project. She supports the BMBF-project ALLIANCE.

Kristina Laubhahn joined the Allergy and Immunology Research Group of Prof. Dr. med. Schaub at the Children’s Hospital of the University in Munich as a PhD student in July 2017.
She is a member of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL, BMBF-funded), doing laboratory and coordination work for the national translational research project ALLIANCE, a longitudinal cohort of children (and adults) with follow-ups for the assessment of mechanisms of childhood asthma and wheeze.
The main project of her PhD thesis is to investigate the influences of genetic and epigenetic effects as well as mechanisms of immune regulation of asthma directly after birth and during disease development in childhood.

During her doctoral thesis (FU Berlin, Pharmacy) she was working in pediatric cancer research at the Charité Berlin analyzing the mechanism of action of mistletoe extracts in Ewing sarcoma and leukemia. She joined the Asthma & Allergy research group in January 2016 working in a DFG funded project to identify immune-regulatory mechanisms in childhood asthma mediated by the farm-effect with a focus on the interplay between dendritic and regulatory T cells.
